What makes face painting a great choice for my party or event?

It doesn't require any setup or cleanup from you. I will bring everything necessary for me to do face painting, including a director's chair in which my clients can sit (I stand while I'm painting), additional seating for a couple of people while they wait, a table for my paints, and even the water to rinse my brushes.

It's adaptable and it complements other activities at the event. How? While I'm painting, other children can watch quietly from the side or play games. I won't compete with other entertainers for the attention of your patrons. You can have walk-around artists entertain the majority of the partygoers while I quietly paint in the background.

It's suitable for indoor and outdoor events. I have a wonderful screen house that provides excellent protection from the sun and rain. I've even had more than twenty people huddle on the floor inside my screen house as I continued to paint during an unexpected rainstorm. However, I can quickly move inside if the weather becomes severe.

Why should I choose me2u face painting?

The human body is my canvas and I try to give my clients exactly what they want. My experience and skill set me apart from a well-meaning mom, dad, or teen who is recruited from the school fundraiser because they can lend their time to your party or event. I am an experienced face painter and I'm not shy about telling people—or better still—showing people what I can do. When you hire me2u face painting, you're hiring me, Timothy Hernández, to do your face painting. I work alone. I don't farm out my work to others who work for me. My clients know what they're going to pay before I arrive. There are no hidden charges in my fees. I only do events in the Denver metro area so I don't add travel expenses to my prices.

How much will me2u face painting charge me for my event?

The answer is...it depends. I have two slightly different pricing schedules, one for parties and one for events. What's the difference? Well, parties are where you know within one or two persons how many people you expect me to paint (i.e. birthdays, Bat & Bar Mitzvahs, scout meetings). Please include adults when you call me because it is not unusual for adults to want me to paint them once they see what I can do. I have a 1.5-hour minimum for parties. Events are where the number of people you expect me to paint is unknown (i.e. fairs, grand openings, receptions). I have a three-hour minimum for events. Please check out my fee schedule, however, if you have any questions about pricing. I encourage you to contact me2u face painting to obtain a quote for your event.

Do you do birthday parties?

Yes, Yes, Yes! I love doing birthday parties, and the birthday girl or boy always gets special consideration from me.

What can you paint?

The possibilities are—dare I suggest—limitless. I will endeavor to give you exactly what you want. If I can't paint it, I'll let you know. I have 30 full-face designs to select and over a 100 tattoo-like designs to choose.

How many people can you paint in an hour?

Generally, I can paint from eight to eighteen people in an hour. However, the number frequently varies because I invariably get special requests from my clients. I can paint some designs in a few minutes, while others take a bit longer, especially hand-painted sports logos and detailed, hand paintings of cartoon characters.

What's in the paint you use?

Each manufacturer has its own "secret recipe" for making the products I use. All of the manufacturers, depending upon the specific product, commonly use similar ingredients, such as talc and mineral oil. Please visit the ingredients page for more information about the compounds found in the various paints, powders, and glitters I use.

Do you wear a costume when you paint?

No. I wear comfortable clothing, usually clean, embroidered tees, khaki shorts (cut at or below the knee) or pants, socks, and either sandals or trail shoes. For more formal occasions, I wear slacks, a long-sleeve dress shirt, dark socks, and wingtips.

What other kinds of artwork do you do?

I've dabbled with other media over the years, but I haven't taken a formal art class since my sophomore year of high school. I've been drawing since I was a child. I sketch cartoon characters in my spare time, but I'm comfortable doing face painting. I am a firm believer in doing what you do best, and I think I do face painting best. Face painting allows me to channel my creative energies, which I think is important in life. My only regret is that some of my best artwork has gone down the drain because my painting isn't permanent. I've been planning to take a photography class for some time so that I can improve the composition of images on my web site. But right now, what you see is what you get.

What kind of camera do you use to take photos of your clients?

I use a FUJIFILM DIGITAL CAMERA (FinePix2600 ZOOM). I used my FinePix2600 ZOOM to take most of the shots you see posted on my web site. It's an excellent little camera. If you find a blurry photo on my web site, I probably took the picture using a MINOLTA FREEDOM 50 35mm camera with very, and I mean very, old film.

Why don't all of the images load when I visit your site?

You are most likely using a dial-up connection to access the Internet. Have you considered DSL or cable? You may have to refresh the page you want to see more than once to view all the images (some are fairly large). Also, you may have to upgrade your browser.

Yes, but I prefer cash tips to advice.

Who designed your web site?

I did, and if you pay me a ton of money I'll help create one for you too. Kidding, well maybe I am. Seriously, I've spent scores of hours developing my web site. I've had lots of help from Angelfire and Bravenet, and HTML 4 For Dummies was an invaluable resource in the beginning. Incidentally, that's why it says, 'Web site "heisted" ;) and maintained by Timothy Hernández' on many of the pages here. It's a play on the word 'hosted' and the notion that I've "borrowed" ideas from various sources. I couldn't have created my piece of the 'Net without help from many other resources. I still have much to learn; I hope to make several improvements to my web site in the future. Stay tuned!

What makes you so different from other face painters I might consider?

I'm unique. Yes, I know, aren't we all? But it's true! I don't copy other people's work. One thing you'll probably notice if you spend any time searching for a face painter over the Internet is how similar the artwork is among various entertainers. Some of the work is quite good, but often—too often in my opinion—you'll find artists who mimic other face painters. This works for them, it doesn't work for me. It reminds me of McDonald's approach to food service. If that's what you're looking for, go elsewhere; I'm not the face painter you want. I haven't been tutored by fancy-pants artists from Europe. I developed my own style over the years I've been painting. My artwork is very organic in design. For example, I learned how to paint a cheetah by looking at photos of real-life cheetahs. Gee, how original!
